The Basics

Yay! We finally decided the plot and outline of our opening scene:
a girl will be running away from home with a boy. We chose this plot
because it seemed intriguing and easy to make the audience question
“What is going to happen next?” In addition to this, we can make the
viewers wonder what the girl’s motive for running away is. With this plot,
the audience will always be wanting to know more.

Due to her enjoyment in the spotlight, Paola will be playing the main character,
a rebellious, edgy teenager. In order to portray this type of character, we
wanted to choose a name that reflected this type of teenager. The first name
that I thought of was Margo, which I derived from the movie Papertowns.
Margo was a beautiful, outgoing, and mysterious girl that disappeared one
day; however, she left clues behind for a boy named Quentin. The audience
follows the adventure of Quentin and his friends trying to find Margo. We liked
the idea that Margo didn’t care what people thought of her, and she did whatever
she wanted. These were the type of characteristics that we wanted to incorporate
into our main character.

We also received inspiration of this type of persona in The Breakfast Club;
there will be elements of Claire’s character and Allison. Claire is the pretty,
popular cheerleader, while Allison is the typical goth girl; by combining
contrasting personas of these, we can create a character that is different
from the stereotypical girls that are portrayed on television. We do not want out
audience member of teens (from ages 14-18) to guess what will happen next but
instead just watch, wondering what will happen next. We got most of the details
about Margo, but we still do not know what to do about the boy… I’ll let you know
what we think of next time.

Bye for now!
